Does the Simple program include California tax filings? Do I need a tax ID number to file? I have a social security number and only one loan for solar. Is the Simple program the best for me? I am 74, my husband is 80, and we have no dependents. Our typical filing status is married, and we made roughly $152,000 this year. We did not have any taxes taken from our income.

I didn’t receive my 2021 income tax refund. I was supposed to do an identification test but got disconnected and didn’t hear back since. I was living in Philadelphia and moved to Las Vegas almost 6 years ago. I don’t know if that’s the hold up. I’m living in Las Vegas, NV now. What should I do to check the status of my refund?

I retired in June 2021. A year before, TIAA said we were able to withdraw our savings without the need to pay the IRS in three years. I didn't pay attention to the 1099-R because I thought I was protected from paying. I got a CP2000. Neither TIAA or the IRS agents or advocate people are giving me the benefit of the doubt. They all talk about the legal aspect of my case. The money I took in June 2020 was to buy a house before my retirement. I will fill out my taxes as a writer and photographer. I need a CPA (not sure where to look for a reasonable price), but first I want to be able to understand what is going on with my taxes now (with Cares Act problem) and for the future (filling taxes as a writer). I am willing to learn and attend workshops. I feel very illiterate in these matters. People live scared of the IRS and I hate this feeling and not being in control or my money as a middle class person with no big income. I retired at 62. What should I do to resolve my tax issues and understand my tax situation better?
