During a divorce, I discovered that my husband, a surgeon, allegedly did not pay taxes on roughly $50K a year for four years, totaling $200K. He has ignored discovery requests and refuses to provide documentation from his employer or secondary income accounting firm. Should I report him to the IRS now, and what are the potential consequences if I do?

In 2011, we did not file our taxes and in 2015, the IRS filed for us and we owe $20,000. We are in bankruptcy. Can any of this debt be forgiven? Additionally, the IRS has placed a lien on our home for the $20,000 they say we owe. How do we go about filing our taxes now?

I am a retired teacher who works part-time and had to defend myself in court on child abuse charges over the past three years. An adverse verdict would have put me on an abuser list, preventing any future work as a teacher. My lawyer suggested I might reasonably deduct 25 percent of the legal expenses related to the job issue. Can I take this deduction and amend my past three years' tax returns?

I received a Notice of Intent to Assess from the state of MA. I was expecting a refund, but the notice indicates that the withholding of $XXXX will be disallowed if I do not respond within 30 days. What happens if I do not respond within the 30 days, and will I be fined or just lose the refund?
