I want to form an LLC or S corp for my Credit Score Improvement company. I am in California and not sure which is the best option. I haven't talked to a tax professional yet. What are the advantages and disadvantages of each option?

Our volunteer fire department is currently set up under our Fire District's tax ID number. Do we need a separate tax ID number for the volunteer account, and should we set up as a 501(c)(3) for tax-exempt status? We have separate accounts between the district and the volunteers, and we do fundraising to support our operations.

My father recently passed away, and I need to determine whether I need to file his taxes. His source of income was social security and a pension. He passed away on March 26, 2021, and there is a surviving spouse who now receives his social security and pensions. I thought that once someone reached a certain age, they no longer had to file taxes. Additionally, I want to know if social security is taxable income and if my mother should have received a form from the Social Security Administration to use for filing taxes.
