My mother became incapacitated with sudden dementia within the last year and I, her only son, have assumed POA to manage all her finances and taxes. I need an extension on filing her taxes (previous fiscal year). COVID has impacted my ability to regain steady employment as a teacher, and renting my mother's house in Santa Barbara (I live in New York) is my only source of income. The income is considered joint, as it is my mother's house. I don't want to get penalized or incur any other problems with the IRS. This is where I need help, especially as it relates to COVID.
