I received a tax refund check for 2012 that I was not aware of. The check was dated 12/2012. I did not receive any verification or notice about this refund. Do I need to verify this refund before depositing the check, and am I entitled to this refund?

I work for Shell in the Gulf on a platform in international waters. I live in Mexico and fly from Louisiana to home via private plane every 2 weeks, coming and going from work (helicopter to platform from LA). I am a U.S. citizen, but my permanent residence is in Mexico. If I work in international waters and live in another country, is my income taxable? My husband and I own a building with 4 rental apartments in AZ, managed by a real estate company, while we reside in NJ. We want to start an LLC for this investment. Should we start the LLC in AZ or NJ? Does it make a difference for tax purposes? If we plan to start a small home business in the future, should we use the same LLC or start a different one? Is there a website to apply for and start the LLC?
