I’m considering either putting 401k funds on hold or into a money market fund. No money is being paid into the 401k right now. So the dip is not actively being bought. I recognize inflation will be killing the $ long term if I keep it in one of those listed options long term. However, if I put the investments “on the side” for a few months… what’s the better option? On hold for a few months or putting into a money market fund (which will not have tax implications).

The father works and supports the family, while the mother, who owns the home, stopped working in July 2014 and will have less than $3000 in income for the year. Should the father claim the kids as dependents now and at the end of the year, or should the mother continue to claim them?
