I need to change my lid switch but the new part has a green ground wire. My washer is top-loaded and 18 years old. I have used zip ties to hold the old switch in place. The washer doesn't have a ground wire, but the lid switch does. What should I do with the green ground wire on the new lid switch?

I have a Whirlpool Chrome Shadow top-loaded touch screen washer with model number wtw5100mc2. The touch screen does not light up at all, and it sounds like the washer is trying to run through a cycle. The plug is getting power, and we have unplugged the machine and let it sit for 24 hours before plugging it back in.
