Trying to diagnose an ice maker problem with a KitchenAid KFIS25XVMS1. It is not making ice but I am getting plenty of water to the water dispenser. No kinked water line, and I have removed the filter as well. What could be the issue and how can I troubleshoot it?

I have an older Sears washing machine model# ***** 16101690 that has never given me any problems until recently. I noticed that on the first and final rinse, the machine would drain but not spin unless I opened and closed the lid. At that point the clutch kicks in and the unit spins just fine. I can't imagine it being the lid switch because all I'm doing when I open the lid is open the switch and then close it electrically. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

For the JES9860CCS range, if I want a wooden shelf with a minimum clearance of 24" above the range and clad the underside of the shelf in a flame-retardant material (steel, copper, aluminum, tile), can I have puck lights recessed into the shelf so that they are flush with the underside of the shelf? I'm concerned that the act of recessing the lighting through the flame-retardant material will render the assembly non-flame retardant. Also, is tile an acceptable material? It's not mentioned in the specs.

My Whirlpool washer stopped mid-wash cycle. It won't agitate or drain, but it will fill to the next water level. My wife reported a slight electrical/rubber odor, which was gone by the time I got home. There is only one pair of ladies' pants in the load. What could be the issue and how can I troubleshoot it?
