My dryer has stopped working, even though it's still plugged in and the breaker hasn't tripped. The drum light doesn't come on, and the dryer had its vent cleaned out a week ago. What could be the issue?

I found a purple rubber round item, approximately 9 inches in diameter and about 1/4 inch wide, in the bottom of my KitchenAid Supurba Whisper Quiet Ultima dishwasher. It is from 1999 and is 11 years old. Is this a part that belongs to the dishwasher, and if so, where does it go?

My GE oven stopped working and displays symbols F7 and a blinking EC, along with a beeping sound. I don't have a manual to understand what the trouble code means.
