I have a Fisher & Paykel GWL 15 washer from 2006/2008. It turns on, all the lights come on, but it won't start at the beginning of the wash cycle. It does run in the rinse cycle. What could be the issue and what steps can I take to troubleshoot it?

My Whirlpool ice maker's wire shut-off arm keeps falling out of its front hole, resulting in too much ice. I haven't replaced the water filter for a few years, and the fridge was bought on 11-25-17. This issue has been going on for about 3 weeks, and I've tried putting the arm back in the hole, but it falls out after opening the drawer once or twice. What should I do to fix this?
