I have a GE front load washer that is about 8 years old. It just shut off and won't power back on. I tried to unplug it for a bit and reset all the breakers. It will not turn back on. The door is locked with all my good towels in it too. What could be the issue and how can I fix it?

My French-door fridge, a Haier HTD647AW, about 7 years old, has started making a very loud hum, which we suspect might be the compressor. The noise cuts in and out and started over the Christmas break, gradually increasing in volume. The fridge is still keeping things cold. How do I organize for someone to come look at it, what charges would this incur, and is there anything I can try before calling for service?
