I have a GE gas range Model xl44 - RGB524PPA2wh. My oven is not lighting. The gas pilot stays lit, and when I turn the oven temp knob up, a larger pilot burns, but nothing happens after several minutes. I think the part I need is #214 on the diagram, the safety valve. Does this seem right? The stove has standing pilots and no electrical hook-up. I live in remote Alaska, so I can't call for service or bring it in. I removed the part and took pictures of it. I'd hate to have to throw out my whole range just for one small metal part. Even if the part costs almost as much as I paid for the whole unit. Thanks so much. Matty

I have a GE Cafe gas stove with self-cleaning and gas lockout functions. When using these functions, there is a creaking sound from the gas valve, the display shows LOC (Lockout Control) flashing, and the stove becomes unresponsive. The only way to reset it is by unplugging and plugging it back in. A local technician found a dead micro switch on the oven door latch, but I don't believe this explains the behavior. What could be causing this issue and how can it be resolved?

I have a Premier brand range/oven that is about 15 years old and not used often. The oven temperature has always been higher than the dial setting. I made a chart of dial settings and actual temperatures: 100=275, 150=325, 200=375, 250=425, 300=500. The oven turns off when the dial is off and the broiler turns on when set to Broil. I checked the capillary bulb, temperature control, foil use, and vent, but they don't seem to be the issue. The knob has no calibration screw, and the probe is not broken or touching other metal parts. How can I calibrate the knob without affecting the 'Off' and 'Broil' positions? Is it possible the probe is damaged but not broken? How do I determine if the probe needs replacement and how do I replace it if necessary?
