I have an endlessly 'unbalanced load' issue with my Whirlpool top-loading washer, model WTW7500GW2, which takes 7-9 hours to wash a load. It has been happening for about a year. What could be causing this and what steps can I take to fix it?

I just changed the water filter and now the 'ice off' button is lit. What do I do to get the ice maker to start making ice? The fridge/ice maker is 10 years old, and I have already held down the ice/lock button, checked that the ice bin is in correctly, and checked the water supply. The model is pfss6pkxass.
