My Maytag top-load model MAV7551AWW washer's spin cycle doesn't dry clothes as it did when new. During the wash cycle, the motor overloaded and shut off, smelling hot. After cooling, it works again. The water pump is clear and rotates properly, and the transmission turns to the right freely but turns left harder after the brake releases. What could be the issue and how can I fix it?
