My Whirlpool front-loading washer, about five years old, has the door lock light flashing and the pump running continuously. I've tried turning off the circuit breaker and resetting the machine, but the issue persists. What could be causing this and what should I do next?

I am attempting to replace a broken blower fan on my Amana dryer (model ned4655ew1). The blower fan is firmly stuck and won't spin clockwise, even with the shaft secured. I've heard that cutting the blower fan away is the best solution when this happens. Do you agree, or would you suggest something else?
