I have a Kenmore Elite refrigerator, 2006 model 106.56706500. There is a chemical odor when opening the refrigerator door, and the ice from the ice maker in the freezer has a chemical taste. The refrigerator/freezer are performing their cooling functions, but there is a weird smell throughout the refrigerator only when the door is open. What could be causing this smell, and is there a risk of refrigerant/gas leaking from the mechanism into the interior and contaminating the stored food?
