I purchased a top load Maytag Centennial washer in Sept 2010. It's about 7 years old and has a very loud spin cycle noise that sounds like it's rubbing rusty metal. The agitation sounds okay, and there are no visible fluids under the washer. What could be causing this noise, and should I repair or replace the washer?

My KitchenAid dishwasher won't start. I press Normal Wash, Heat Dry, and Start. It sounds like it's going to start, but then all the lights go out except for the Drain/Cancel button.
