I have a guy on my computer saying I have a virus and spyware and the only way to remove it is to pay $199.99 for six months. My computer is an Asus with a Core i5 Intel processor, and I'm unsure about the operating system. I've tried shutting off and restarting, but it locks up with a man talking about stealing my banking info. They claim to work for Microsoft. How can they do this when I have spyware and virus protection on my computer? If I don't pay, can you still help me? Also, does Malwarebytes defend against viruses and everything?

They took control of my computer, charged me $688.23, and tried to get me to pay an additional $688.23 for a lifetime protection program. I stopped the payment and closed my old checking account.
