My computer has been stuck on a screen saying 'Repairing disk errors' for three days. The make and model is D550mav-d801(s). I haven't installed any updates recently, and the issue started when I turned it on after charging it. The screen is now blank with just a cursor. What should I do?

I have an HP Envy x360 laptop running Windows 8.1. After trying to create a new user, the home screen now shows two complete replicates of the screen (one on top of the other) plus two smaller replicates to the right. I've tried resetting Windows to an earlier date but it didn't help. What could be causing this issue and how can it be resolved?
