Hi Dr. Elaine. You just answered my question about the female Doberman who yelps intermittently. I have massaged along her spine and on her neck and head and there have been no yelps or winces. She is less active now than she was earlier today when she ate (8 hours ago). I cancelled my afternoon vet appointment because she seemed to bounce back a little when she ate the wet food. She does lay still for a while and she licks her lips (but she is not frothing) a lot before she falls asleep. She was having a lot of dreams earlier today. I want to wait until the vet opens, but that is still 8 hours from now. Please advise on whether she needs to be seen immediately or if I can wait. Thanks!

My 10-year-old Labrador, Molly, has been scared of stairs and unwilling to go out or eat since yesterday. She is capable of walking but not down the steps, sleeps a lot, and has been hesitant and slow in movement. She usually takes Dasuquin but refused it this morning. What could be causing this behavior and what should I do?

My pit bull, Missy Mae, who is almost 2 years old and weighs about 70 lbs, got into a bag of chocolate bars (Baby Ruth and Butterfinger) and is now vomiting. I want to know if she's going to be okay. What should I do?

I am babysitting a friend's dog named Bear who has had yellow diarrhea for 2 days, occurring 3 times. This is the first time he has been away from his owners. Should I be concerned about stress as a possible cause, and should I take him to a vet?

I have a 1-year-old dog named Sprite, who just completed all booster shots. The vet wants to do a full panel blood test. Is this really necessary, especially since Sprite seems healthy and is a happy 7-pound Chihuahua Poodle mix?

My 3-year-old Border Collie, Frankie, ate a significant amount of hydrocerin cream about 2-3 hours ago. What should I do?
