He may have eaten something unusual, and he has a history of hip dysplasia. What could be causing his symptoms and what steps should I take to help him?

My 7-month-old female dog, Emmie, started limping two days ago. She is not bearing weight on the affected leg, had a run/walk the day before, and is eating and drinking normally. She is up to date on her heart guard and nex guard medications. We took her to the vet yesterday who prescribed carprofen but did not take x-rays. She is worse today and has had 4 doses of carprofen. What should we do?
