Our female Doberman is approximately 13 years old and sometimes has trouble getting up from a laying down position, but otherwise is active, happy, and eating well. We give her sardines weekly, which seems to help her joints. How do we know when it's time to consider euthanasia, and do you have any suggestions for managing her condition?

Buster, a 3-year-old American Cocker Spaniel, is typically very happy and hyperactive but today he is not acting like his normal self. He seems to cower when trying to jump, suddenly yelped and ran for comfort, trembled and yelped more when touched on his back legs, and walks tenderly with his back legs turned inward and hunched back. What's wrong with Buster and what can I do to make him comfortable until I can get him to a vet in the morning?

My German Shepherd has been treated for heartworms in the past and is now skinny with visible ribs, walking like an old dog despite being young. Thyroid and kidney function tests are normal, liver function is slightly off, monocyte count is high, and fecal exam is normal. She was also vomiting but has stopped recently.
