My 16-year-old Yorkie, Bella, suddenly has weakness in her hind legs and cannot walk. She is panting, eating, and defecating normally but requires assistance to go outside. She was prescribed Apoquel for itchy skin two weeks ago, but the itching has not improved. What could be causing her hind leg weakness, and what further steps should be taken?

We have a small dog named Charlie, weighing 10 pounds. She has been occasionally coughing, but in the last 3 days, the cough has increased significantly and is very loud. She coughs for about 30 seconds, then stops, and the cycle repeats about 15 minutes later. Charlie is about 8 to 9 years old and has been a healthy dog except for having some teeth pulled about a year ago. What should we do about her coughing?

Becca, a dog, is at Woodland Hills Advanced Critical Care and Specialty Service. Her ultrasound of kidneys looks like that of a 15-year-old dog with chronic renal disease (RBC is 17). She is on IV fluids, Cerenia, Pepcid AC, Phosphate Binder, Epakitin, Aranesp injection (1x a week), Iron dextran, and B-12. Blood tests are done weekly. Her doctor, Dr. Elana Hadar, estimates she may have 5-6 months with luck. Is there anything else that can be added to her treatment? Thank you for calming me, Sandy.
