My 2-year-old female Golden Retriever named Bleu is in heat and has a hard stomach, not super bloated but with a vertical split down the middle. She has been whining occasionally and her stomach felt a bit larger yesterday but is less today. She has eaten, drank water, and has had normal bowel movements. What could be causing this and should I be concerned?

My 12-year-old Shih Tzu named Rosie has congestive heart failure and is on Vetmedin and Furosemide. She has been experiencing heavy breathing and a distended stomach, along with a cough. The heavy breathing started again tonight, even though she was better after being prescribed the diuretic a couple of weeks ago. Should I increase the diuretic dosage, and is it safe to give an extra dose or half dose to relieve her symptoms until we can take her to the vet tomorrow?
