I have an almost 15-year-old Terrier mix female with early symptoms of chronic kidney disease, no stones or infection. Her vet wants to put her on medication and special food, but can I make her a kidney-friendly diet at home? Additionally, her liver enzymes are elevated, and we have an additional medication for that. I'm also concerned about the cost of the medications, which is $200 per month, and I can't afford that.
