My dog, Gus, is listing to one side, having trouble putting down one hind leg and one foreleg, and manages to hobble along. He had a back problem a couple of months ago which was resolved with gabapentin and NSAIDs. He started hobbling on three legs after more gabapentin, and his balance worsened. He stopped the gabapentin, and his balance improved, but he still has trouble standing, and now his hind leg is also a problem. His appetite is fine, and he wears a flea/tick collar. What could be causing his lameness, and what should I do until his vet appointment on December 10?

Hi Dr. Scott, I just got an update on my dog, Zoe, who is having an intestinal blockage problem. The doctor said the barium is going all the way through the intestines into the colon and from the x-rays it seems that the blockage is moving along as well. They are going to do enemas this afternoon to see if they can flush it out. I just wanted to get your opinion on this new course of action. I'm attaching the most recent x-rays they took around noon today.

My 90lb Labradoodle, Finn, who is almost 5 years old and on painkillers for a disc issue and sulfate to help his stomach, ate approximately 5 hot chocolate k-cups and 3 coffee k-cups. He has not vomited since eating them, and it has been at least 7 hours. How should I proceed?

My 9-year-old dog, Boomer, has been experiencing respiratory issues since May, including yellow nasal discharge, eye discharge, reverse sneezing, a hoarse cough, and patchy hair loss with scaly sores. He has been treated for aspiration pneumonia, tried various antihistamines, and had negative results on nasal washout, cytology, and PCR tests. He also has hypothyroidism, which is currently well-managed. What could be causing these persistent symptoms and what further tests or treatments should be considered?

My 8-year-old Bichon, Cupcake, has been diagnosed with 3-4 bladder stones, strains to urinate, has bloody urine, and has completed a round of antibiotics. We initially planned to try a special diet and antibiotics for a month followed by a repeat x-ray, but decided to proceed with surgery due to her sporadic urination, incontinence, and pain. We were given a surgery date a month from now. Is waiting a month too risky for complications, and should we consider an earlier surgery date?
