My grandmother's English Staffy, Elektra, has ongoing skin issues and has recently rapidly lost weight despite being in good spirits. She has lost fur on her face and back legs, and the skin was scabbing but has since stopped due to antibiotics. What could be causing these issues and what steps can be taken to address them?

I accidentally gave my 12-pound, 12-year-old dog, Buddy, double his prescribed dose of Meloxicam (0.5 mL instead of 0.25 mL). I sprayed Cutter Backyard Bug Control spray in the morning. When I got home from work, my dog was drooling and breathing heavily. The next morning, an X-ray showed air in the chest cavity. Could the spray have caused this? My dog, Bo, an 11-year-old basset hound, had to be put down due to low oxygen saturation. Was this my fault? Could it have been the spray, especially if he licked it? My other two small breed dogs, who were also in the yard, are fine.
