My dog was prescribed both metronidazole 250mg and famotidine 10mg. Can I give one metronidazole in the morning and 1/2 tablet famotidine at night? The dog weighs 20 lbs and is on a rice and chicken diet, but the diarrhea does not stop. What is the correct dosage and schedule for these medications?

My dog is having difficulty with bowel movements. He is experiencing wetting but no solid bowel movements, started this morning. He weighs 20lbs and is a Norwich/Australian Terrier mix. I have stopped feeding him and gave him a pet probiotic and part of a TUM 3 hours ago. His last attempt resulted in a brown, spotty, runny stool. He has been drinking water. What could be causing this and what should I do?

Our dachshund hurt her back and went a week taking meds (tramadol, muscle relaxer, anti-inflammatory). Her back is improving, but her kidneys went haywire, and she has lost her appetite.
