We recently adopted a rescue dog named Charlie who is about 2 years old. He has bitten my daughter and me, and we suspect he might have an injury. He has a broken toe in his rear leg, is swollen, and was recently neutered. We are not giving him up and want to understand the problem to prevent future incidents. Tonight, he seemed fine. What could be causing his behavior, and what should we do to help him adjust and ensure his well-being?

My dog has a swollen eye that has been like this for about an hour. She is a lab/hound/boxer mix, about 1 year old, and is acting fine.
