I am a tenant in an apartment managed by a property company. My apartment was broken into and items worth over $6000 were stolen. The thief broke the basement door, which was not secure, and then my apartment door. I believe the property management company should be responsible because they did not provide a secure external door in the basement, which is considered negligence. They were aware of previous break-ins and did not take adequate measures to secure the property. Additionally, a wardrobe was placed adjacent to my apartment door, obstructing the view from the main door, which facilitated the theft. What are my rights and how can I hold the property management company liable for their negligence?

The company union contract for employees hired under an old contract states that they do not have to travel between locations, unlike new employees. Some locations are more than 60 miles from home and travel is not compensated. One employee under the old contract only travels to a store close to her home, placing the burden of traveling greater distances on others. My thoughts are that once she is willing to go to any store regardless of the distance, that should void her old contract and she should be required to travel to other stores as well, to make travel more fair to the rest of us. Is this considered unfair labor practices?

If I gave a washer and dryer to somebody and they stole my landlord's dolly when they came to pick it up, am I responsible to replace the stolen dolly? I wasn't even in the same state when it happened. Additionally, can a landlord hold my security deposit for any amount of time, especially if they believe it's related to this dolly incident? What are some laws regarding security deposits?
