I am selling a house in Columbia, SC, and was supposed to close tomorrow, but I just found out I didn't have a deed of distribution done. My husband died in 2003, and we have a daughter who is 12. I was told I have to go through court, which could take 8-10 months. I am no longer living in the house and may foreclose in November due to non-payment. What can I do to keep the sale of the house as planned for Friday?

I have been divorced for 13 years after a 25-year marriage. My ex-husband is now retired from the US Postal Service and receives a disability check from the military. I have never received alimony from him but was told I might be entitled to part of his retirement funds and/or his disability. Is this true, and if so, what can I do to get this?

I was charged with failure to yield right of way. I was sitting at a stop sign, looked both ways, and proceeded when I thought the traffic was clear. I began to turn left and was struck on the side by a vehicle I did not see that came from a parking area to my right. Is there a defense to this? My insurance paid for repairs to both vehicles involved. Is there anything I can plead to mitigate this charge?

I purchased a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am 2 years ago from Credit Connection Auto for $12,000 and still owe $4,500. I recently discovered it was wrecked, had the whole front end replaced, and was also flooded. I want to return the car because it will cost more than $1,000 to fix and make it run correctly. Am I stuck with it?

My brother is in jail in Rahway, NJ. He picked up a charge in state prison and got an extra 300 days. He appealed and the appeal was granted. He has an appeal date, but he is not going to go to court; this will be done over the mail. He needs to write a letter stating why he thinks the decision was wrong, and they will make a decision. He was appointed a public defender, but we want to know how much a private lawyer would charge for this service.
