I have a small claims case in Michigan where someone is suing me for $850 over a plow mount installation on his 2004 truck, claiming I destroyed his mount and caused his radiator to leak. I have witnesses who will back me up. What should I do to win this case?

I am trying to verify the validity of a nationwide transfer advocacy company for dissolving timeshares. They provided me with a license number, and I would like to know if this company is reputable and how to find out if they are legitimate.

I paid a deposit on an apartment in North Carolina on 1/29/18 with a move-in date of 2/1/18. Due to hospitalization on 1/30/18, I am unable to move in and requested my deposit back within 24 hours, which was denied. Is this legal?

I was in an accident 9 months ago and injured my leg with MTA in New York. I didn't file a case, and my leg is still bothering me. What steps should I take to potentially file a claim against MTA?

As a Canadian non-resident with a residency in the Middle East, I want to buy US stocks and was required to submit the W8BEN form. I didn't include the Foreign Tax Identification Number (TIN) because I don't have one, nor do I currently have a valid SIN. The US brokerage firm requested a letter justifying why I don't have a TIN, offering two options: (1) I am not legally required to obtain a TIN in my jurisdiction of tax residence, or (2) Other with an explanation. Should I choose the first option since I'm a resident in the Middle East, or should I choose the second option and elaborate on the situation (being a Canadian non-resident with no revenue from Canadian sources, hence no need for tax returns and no TIN)?

I am an independent contractor at a chiropractic clinic. I was recently deposed by the defendant in one of my patient's personal injury cases. The opposing counsel paid for my time and testimony. The owner of the clinic gave them her information (W9) for the payment and had them make the check payable to her, and now she will not pay me the check amount and is trying to give me a small percentage of it. Shouldn't I have been paid directly?
