I live in NJ and was insured by State Farm for my home policy. On January 8, 2014, a sewer pipe froze and broke, causing total loss of my basement due to flooding from sewage water. I need to know if I have any rights to extend the time to submit a list of personal losses. Due to circumstances beyond my control, including caring for my ill parents, my husband's ongoing health issues, the loss of our dog, and my own mental health struggles, I am still struggling to submit the list within the 2-year deadline. Additionally, my steps to the basement were not replaced, causing my husband to fall and injure his back. Are there any laws or exceptions that would allow me more time to submit all my property?

My 17-year-old daughter's 60-year-old ski coach became enraged and chased her approximately 50 feet into a building, then grabbed her by the upper arm and dragged her into an office, insisting that the woman support staff person leave because 'he needed the room.' While alone in the room, he yelled at my daughter in an intimidating manner, nose to nose, yelling that she was insubordinate. This exchange took approximately 10 minutes. We live in New York State. This happened last year in February. Is there cause for any action in this case based on what I have written? Since it was a year ago, would it be too late to take any action? Thank you.

I filed a Grievance and a Fee Dispute with the state bar against my lawyer for failure to remit payment of my settlement from 5+ years ago. The Fee Dispute committee decided in my favor, and now the lawyer has sent a check for the amount determined by the Arbitration Committee. I am also claiming interest and compensatory damages for the aggravation and legal misconduct. Would accepting this check now nullify my claim for compensatory damages and interest?
