I received a card from the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office asking me to call regarding personal civil papers from Attorney Jacob Figelman in Richardson, TX. What could this possibly be about?

Are the 2 statements below (A vs. #5) in conflict? It states that the Piper Riverside, successors and assigns are the 'Grantee'. Then in section 5 it's asking to release the 'Grantee' not just Piper, nor does it state that Empire Renewables is assuming the obligations from the initial agreement. Am I correct and is the simple fix to remove grantee and list out names in section 5. A) THIS FIRST AMENDMENT TO (AND MEMORANDUM OF) OPTION TO PURCHASE REAL PROPERTY (this 'Amendment') is made, dated and effective as of March ____, 2019 (the 'Effective Date'), by and between PIPER RIVERSIDE LLC (together with its successors and assigns hereunder, 'Grantee'); and GALIL, INC. (together with its successors and assigns hereunder, 'Owner'). 5. Consent to Assignment. Owner hereby consents to Grantee's assignment of the Option Agreement to Martin Rd Solar LLC, an affiliate of Grantee ('Assignee'), and Owner agrees that such assignment shall release Grantee from all obligations under the Option Agreement accruing or arising on or after the Effective Date.

I am a retired disabled fireman in Louisiana. The retirement board cut my monthly benefits because I received a $140,000 lump sum medical reimbursement settlement. The settlement was for medical expenses they did not cover when I went out on sick leave in 2008. The retirement board took the entire $140,000 out of my benefits, even though $36,000 went to attorneys' fees. Is this legal, and what steps can I take to challenge this?

My brother had a car accident in California in 2018, but his car is under my name. I live in Washington and I’m being sued for the amount of $4000, but I have court on May 29 and can’t go, and also don’t really have money to pay for a lawyer. What can I do to fix this or to get a public defender?

I agreed to watch my friend's dog for the weekend and it bit my dog in the eyeball at my house while I was in charge of it. My friend refused to pay half the vet bill and acted like I'm unreasonable for asking. Am I out of line for asking her to contribute to the vet bill?
