Is a policy requiring a doctor's note showing an employee is okay to return to work after calling in sick for 5 days a good practice to maintain, or is it outdated? From an employer's perspective, it seems to open up some liability if we do not require the employee to show that they are released to full duty (other employees getting sick from that one or that employee claiming in court we required her to return to work). However, we want to grow with the times and if the policy is no longer a standard policy, then we would like to change it.

Is there anything in the laws that prevents me from making a casual contact via social media with my estranged son, who is 14 years old, after a court battle where the outcome was against me? Could I face any potential charges for contacting him through Facebook to say hi?
