In the continuing saga of my son and his girlfriend, I have a housing question. The girlfriend and my son rented an apartment for which the lease, which had both names on it, expired last June. The girlfriend moved out and we paid her back her deposit. My son continued living there without a lease. A former employee was terminated for gross misconduct under an Employment Contract with my LLC. The contract stipulated that severance is not payable under such conditions. The employee passed away, and now his spouse is suing for the severance payment. The contract also states that upon the employee's death, the estate is entitled to base compensation and bonus earned up to the date of death. The employee was paid base compensation earned up to termination, but no bonus was earned. Can the estate sue for the severance payment, and if so, what are the legal implications?

As a caregiver for a 90-year-old client who is of sound mind and lives independently, I have received financial assistance and a car as a gift from him. The bank reported possible exploitation to Adult Protective Services (APS), who questioned my client and are now investigating. If my client is of sound mind and has willingly given these gifts and financial assistance, is there a need to charge me with exploitation? Can APS disregard his clear mental state and proceed with an investigation? What is the process of this investigation, and when will I be notified if there is one? As a professional caregiver, was it wrong for me to accept these gifts and financial assistance?
