My ex-boyfriend operates a workshop in my garage, and I gave him a written notice to move out by a specific date. He refuses to leave and insists on renting the space. I live in Nautica apts in St Petersburg, FL, and am handicapped with a placard. I often borrow my son's truck and use my placard in it. The complex requires residents to have complex stickers on their vehicles. Management has told me they will tow the truck if I park it in a handicap spot, requiring me to park in visitor parking. I am being forced by my attorney to sign a 998, which I believe is a low-ball offer. I don't want to sign any form that makes me financially responsible for the defense fees. My charges are against my employer for harassment, discrimination, pain, suffering, and emotional distress. I have a strong case and am not sure my attorney has enough experience or finances to deal with a powerful firm. They are a small firm and it seems they don't want to go to trial. Do I have to sign this 998, and who will benefit from this? My case is on contingency, and every time my attorney incurs expenses, she says I will be paying from my settlement. Please advise if I am obligated to sign this form.

My ex-husband was receiving SSDI through a direct deposit debit card. He gave me the PIN and I used the card to pay bills, buy food, and cover other expenses while he was in jail for domestic violence. He is now threatening to sue me and have me jailed for using his debit card without permission, even though he knew I had the card and used it to send him money in jail. Can he sue me or send me to jail, and is there a statute of limitations on this issue?
