My father, a veteran, was admitted to a skilled nursing facility that verbally claimed to be VA connected. After spending $100,000 in private pay, we discovered the facility was not VA connected. The VA advised us to move him to a VA-connected facility, but he passed away two weeks later. Do we have a case for misrepresentation against the nursing facility?

My daughter, who will be 18 in February 2018, is in a difficult situation with her mother in North Carolina. Her mother's constant mental control has led to my daughter attempting suicide multiple times and being committed. My daughter wants to leave and move in with me in Illinois, but the situation has worsened due to her mother's actions. What legal options do we have to help her move out sooner, such as emancipation or modifying the parent-child relationship?

I am being threatened with a 24-hour demand letter for a refund of monies owed for prepayment of goods not shipped, totaling $22,500, with a partial payment of $5,000 already made. The letter threatens criminal action if I don't pay. What is the legal timeline for a demand letter, is 24 hours reasonable, and can I take action for extortion?

My father is changing his revocable trust to an irrevocable trust for health and Medicaid reasons. He wants me to be the trustee and a beneficiary, with my brother as the backup trustee and my son as the alternate beneficiary. I am confused about how to structure this trust to ensure my father's wishes are met, protect my inheritance from my husband, and manage my son's future financial access. Additionally, I am concerned about the legal advice regarding the need for a new trust versus amending the existing one and the implications for Medicaid eligibility.

Can I be sued for accidentally causing a friend to trip and fall after putting my arm around her near a curb in a parking lot, even though I didn't intentionally push her or cause her to fall?

Hi. I just want to make sure I understand the statute of limitations. The SOL runs out in Illinois 10 years after the last payment was made? So for example if the last payment was made June 15 2007 then the SOL occurs on Jun 15 2017?
