My husband died with his bank account in his name only. I am named as personal representative, and the account is under $1000. Is it true I only have to have an affidavit of heirship signed for the bank to release the funds? And if a few personal effects are going to a grown son and daughter, do they need to sign this affidavit as well?

My father died leaving a sizable estate. His new wife did not contact my sister or me or any family on his side nor did she post an obituary. She filed a will in Cook County, Illinois on November 9, 2007. What are the terms to contest a will, and how do I do it if there are grounds?

I fell and broke my leg at my apartment complex where there is only a handrail on one side of an open staircase. Now, they are trying to evict me for late fees of $83. My rent is paid, but I had to make it in two payments. I receive threatening letters on my door every day. I have registered my home office phone number, but the apartment managers refuse to give the numbers. Is there something I can do?

I have been visited by two police officers concerning a complaint made by my neighbors about harassment due to the slamming of a wheelie bin lid. I was asked to move the bin but refused as others, including my neighbors, place their bins near a communal wall. I was warned that if the police return, they will arrest my husband and me for questioning. There has been an ongoing noise dispute with my neighbors. Do you have any advice or links that may be useful?
