My son voluntarily admitted himself to a hospital in Bellaire, TX on 9/2/2022. He has been given no medications, cannot sleep, and feels unsafe due to witnessing a staff member push another patient. He wants to be transferred or released, but the hospital won't let him go since he voluntarily admitted himself. What are our options?

I gave a contractor a deposit last week and have never heard back from him. I was wondering what legal action I can take against him. The contract was verbal, but he sent over a quote and invoice. The work was supposed to start Monday, but now his phone is off. He said the work would take 5/6 days and I provided a deposit of $3800. I don't think he's licensed, and I can't find him on Facebook. Are there any other actions I can take?

I have a written agreement signed by a buyer and a seller for the purchase of a house, as is, after a fire. The seller has realized that due to unforeseen circumstances, he can no longer sell this property. Can we legally get out of the contract by returning the deposit that the buyer paid back to him?

I need to file a small claims suit against a rental complex, but I'm unsure who to list as the defendant. The rental complex, Mystic Bluff Apartments, is not registered, and I was told by the magistrate office that I need a proper name, not just the rental complex name. I found a signature of a person on the lease who is the VP of operations of Forty2 real estate management of Mystic Bluff apartments. How do I determine who to list as the defendant, and does it matter if the owner is out of state?

If a property manager has me sign a lease with a listing broker listed on the lease, but the broker is not actually involved in the transaction, is that legal? For example, I signed a lease with Palmer House listed as the broker, but when I reached out to Palmer House, they said I’m not staying in one of their properties. When I reached out to the property manager, she said Palmer House's name was left on the lease accidentally (in three places). But this is a legal document we both signed.
