My uncle is involved in a custody dispute with his ex-wife and youngest daughter. He needs to submit a response to the case but does not have an attorney to represent him. Additionally, he needs more time before the hearing because he is the primary caregiver for his elderly mother who has just returned from the hospital. How can he respond to the case and petition the court for an extension of the hearing?

My ex is trying to sue me for slander after I shared with my family and close friends what happened during our breakup and what he did, including a story a friend told me about him. He claims it damaged his reputation but there's no monetary loss or physical damage. What are the laws regarding slander in British Columbia, and how can I defend myself? Additionally, I have proof that he pretended to be me on a dating app while we were together, which I want to file a claim for. What would be the outcome if I win this case, and could I also seek reimbursement for my lawyer's fees if I win my defense against his slander case?

A moving company is holding my belongings hostage. They upcharged us triple the amount quoted by Nationwide, delivered only half of our items broken, and now refuse to deliver the rest, stating they can't fit them in our driveway. They also changed the terms from 30 days to 30 business days for breach of contract. Additionally, they tripled the estimated quote and Nationwide refuses to acknowledge their mistake. My husband is on a kidney-pancreas waitlist and is disabled, and I'm 16 weeks pregnant. What legal steps can I take to resolve this issue and get my belongings back?
