My husband is having problems with his fingernails splitting. Is there something that can be done?

My daughter, 19, has been in the hospital twice in the last 5 weeks with severe stomach pain. A laparoscopy found nothing but a slightly inflamed bowel, yet she is still in severe pain. Painkillers aren't working, and she can't be left in this condition. What could be causing this pain, and what further tests or treatments should be considered?

The upper part of my right arm is very tender and often burns if I touch it. It wakes me in the night if I lay on it and seems to be spreading up into my shoulder and neck. I watered my flowers a few days ago and this caused me extreme pain and stiffness in my neck for several days. I have had the pain now for about a year and it seems to be getting worse.
