I believe I have an ear infection that starts in my ear and goes down my neck. I've been experiencing this for two days, along with a headache on the affected side, nasal stuffiness, and neck stiffness. I'm 32 years old, not currently using any medications other than Tylenol for pain, and I'm allergic to penicillin. I've never had an ear infection before. What could be causing this, and what should I do?

I have a friend who got a cold sore on his lip today. There's a chance he sipped from a can of soda I later sipped from. He had an active sore on his lip which seemed to be dark maroon as if it was healing. Just wanted to make sure chances of transmission if he directly sipped from soda or touched it after touching his sore.
