I have had a 103 fever for a week, flu symptoms, and mouth sores for several days. Last night, my right side upper neck swelled, and this morning, both sides are swollen, with under-tongue swelling and constant dull pain along with sharp shooting pains. I look deformed due to the swelling. I have no numbness, but nausea has returned. I have a history of GERD, esophageal dilations, strictures, an underactive thyroid on levothyroxine, but no recent issues with these conditions. What could be causing this swelling and pain?
