My six-year-old grandson in Gainesville, Florida, has had white spots on his arm for two weeks. His pediatrician suspects a parasite and prescribed an antibiotic, but it's not working. The spots are now on his hands, and I'm worried. How do I convince my daughter to take him to a dermatologist?

I have a sunburn on the front of my legs that has been causing pain and swelling for about 48 hours. The swelling leaves an indentation when pressed and doesn't immediately go away. Is this swelling normal, and how long should it take to go away?

I've had a glass splinter in my foot for about six months, causing significant pain during exercise. The pain seems to move, and I'm unable to locate the splinter. Would tippy toeing help the splinter 'pop out', and what type of doctor should I see to get it removed?

My daughter-in-law is getting sicker with symptoms of a tick-borne illness, though blood tests are negative. She is on a 10-day antibiotic and feels she needs a steroid dose pack now, but her rheumatologist advised not to start it until after her MRI on June 12. Should she go ahead with the steroids or hold off?

I have experienced blister-like bumps on the glans of my penis twice, over a year apart. Both times, the blisters were painless, healed quickly, and did not ulcerate. I have been tested for STDs, including herpes, and all results were negative. My dermatologist diagnosed it as psoriasis based on the presentation. Could herpes present differently each time, and could psoriasis change in appearance? Additionally, what causes herpes to ulcerate, and is it common for scabs to appear and become slightly red due to healing?
