How do I know if I have an infection in my vagina? It burns and itches, and I have noticed some dryness and bumps on the inside flaps. I also have white discharge that doesn't smell good. Could this be related to wearing tight clothing or something else?

I am on birth control and recently switched to a new one. I had my previous period on Jan 1st, had intercourse on Jan 5th, took Plan B on Jan 6th, and then had bleeding for one day on Jan 31st during my placebo pills. I am 45 years old and had a tubal ligation 20 years ago. My period is 10 days late, and I've started bleeding, but it doesn't seem like a normal cycle.
