I live and work in Georgia but own land in Alabama where I sold some timber. Do I pay taxes in Alabama, and do I file Alabama taxes before Georgia taxes? I am 51, married, have one dependent in college, and have a combined income of $107,000 with my wife. I bought the property in February and plan to sell the timber soon. Will this short-term sale cause me to pay higher taxes?

My LLC was supposed to be taxed as an S-Corp in 2021, but it was filed as an S-corp in 2022. The return was accepted and the due tax was paid. The IRS sent a letter stating that the S-corp wasn't effective until 1/22 because it wasn't filed on time for 2021. What will happen now? Will the IRS send me a letter stating that I need to amend my return?
