My stool has been coming out in separate pieces, is soft, and contains a lot of mucus. I also experience abdominal pain after bowel movements. I have been using Advil and Tylenol for the pain, which has been present for the last week. I have not seen a doctor yet, but doctors in the past suspected I might have IBS. What could be causing these symptoms?

My 63-year-old husband, who was in great physical health, underwent a Whipple surgical procedure with no cancer found. He is three months post-surgery and experiencing bouts of being very cold and shivering, which last about 20 to 30 minutes and occur around three times post-surgery. After these episodes, he is very tired and has little energy for a day. Could this be due to a vitamin deficiency, or should I take him to the doctor for further examination?
